Brainspotting Therapy in North Vancouver for Trauma, Anxiety & Relational Wounds

Heal Trauma, Anxiety, and Emotional Overwhelm at the Nervous System Level

When you've talked about your experiences but still feel stuck, Brainspotting may help access deeper parts of the brain and body where trauma, stress, and emotional pain can remain stored. Brainspotting is a focused, brain-body therapy that helps process unresolved experiences through mindful awareness, nervous system regulation, and specific eye positions connected to emotional activation.

At Soma Clinical Counselling, our Registered Clinical Counsellors provide Brainspotting Therapy for adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, burnout, and chronic stress.

Serving North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Vancouver, and clients across British Columbia through in person or online.

What Is Brainspotting Therapy?

Brainspotting (BSP) is a trauma-informed therapeutic approach developed by Dr. David Grand. The therapy is based on the understanding that where we look can influence access to deeper emotional and neurological processing. During a session, your therapist helps identify a "brainspot"—a visual point associated with stored emotional experiences or activation in the nervous system.

By maintaining focus on that point while observing thoughts, emotions, and body sensations, the brain can begin processing experiences that may feel difficult to reach through traditional talk therapy alone. Brainspotting emphasizes the body's natural capacity for healing and integration., and behaviours.

What to Expect During a Brainspotting Session

Brainspotting sessions are collaborative and paced according to your comfort level.

During a session, you may:

  • Focus on a specific concern or goal

  • Notice emotions, thoughts, or body sensations

  • Explore nervous system responses

  • Process unresolved experiences

  • Develop greater self-awareness and regulation

You remain in control throughout the process, and your therapist provides support every step of the way.
