About Shay
Does your mind feel like it never stops, yet somehow you still struggle to get things done? Or maybe you're exhausted from having the same arguments in your relationship, feeling disconnected from your partner, or wondering why things that seem so easy for everyone else feel so difficult for you.
Maybe you're the person who looks like they have it all together on the outside, but behind the scenes, you're overwhelmed, overthinking everything, struggling to set boundaries, or constantly putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own.
You might have ADHD and feel frustrated by unfinished tasks, racing thoughts, emotional overwhelm, or the constant pressure to be more organized and productive. Maybe you've spent years being told you're too sensitive, too distracted, or that you just need to try harder.
Or perhaps you're in a relationship where you keep having the same conversation, but nothing ever seems to change. You love your partner, but somewhere along the way, communication has become difficult, emotional intimacy has faded, or you've started feeling more like roommates than partners.
You're tired of feeling stuck. You want things to change, but you're not entirely sure where to start.
Hi, I'm Shay!
A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) offering individual and couples counselling in North Vancouver and virtually across British Columbia.
I work with adults and couples navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic health concerns, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and major life transitions.
I have a particular passion for working with adults with ADHD and couples who feel caught in the same frustrating patterns.
For adults with ADHD, therapy isn't about forcing yourself to function like everyone else. It's about understanding how your brain works, recognizing what's getting in the way, and finding strategies that actually fit your life. We can explore the overwhelm, procrastination, emotional regulation challenges, relationship difficulties, and years of self-criticism that often come with feeling different or misunderstood.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded, but I'm also willing to gently challenge you when needed. I don't believe therapy should be a place where you simply talk about the same problems week after week without understanding what's keeping them going.
I integrate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies. But more importantly, I tailor our work to you, your experiences, and what you actually need.
Together, we'll identify the patterns that leave you feeling stuck, understand where they come from, and develop practical ways to respond differently. Whether that means learning to manage ADHD-related overwhelm, setting boundaries without guilt, rebuilding your confidence, improving communication, or feeling emotionally connected to your partner again, our work will focus on changes that matter in your everyday life.
Imagine feeling less overwhelmed by your own mind. Being able to communicate what you need without shutting down or exploding. Feeling more confident in your decisions, more connected in your relationships, and less exhausted from trying to hold everything together.
You don't have to wait until things get worse to ask for support.
If you're ready to understand yourself more deeply, break out of familiar patterns, and start making meaningful changes, I'd love to work with you.
What I Do in My Free Time
Outside of my work as a counsellor, I enjoy paddleboarding, aerial training, learning through books and podcasts, and unwinding with a good docu-series alongside my cat, Tuna.
